About This Site

This website was created as a collaborative effort between Mrs. Roby-Unkovich of Chaparral Elementary School and Matthew Nomura and George Baltierrez, both juniors in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) program at Cal Poly Pomona University. The project was supervised by Dr. Preiser, assistant chair and professor of CIS.

Development of this site was one of the first few phases of a pilot community service project in which Cal Poly CIS students, taking a service-learning section of the Spring 2006 Interactive Web Development course, developed websites for Chaparral Elementary School teachers. This was accomplished through the use of Macromedia's Dreamweaver software. In addition, the teachers have been trained to maintain their web pages using Macromedia's Contribute software.

The main purposes of this site are: 1) To provide information for parents regarding SDC expectations and requirements, 2) to provide links for students to other teachers' web portals they may be enrolled with, and 3) to provide a more complete events calendar that only applies to 4th through 6th graders.
