This year will be my 12th year at Chaparral. The minute I set foot on campus, I knew that this is the place that I wanted to work and the place I wanted my girls to go to school. My daughters are now in the 6th and 4th grade.

My favorite subjects to teach are math and science. I love doing experiments and showing kids how something works. The best part of my job is when a student says "I get it now!" or "Wow, I didn't know that!" No two days are ever the same.

Mt San JacintoWhen I am not in the classroom, I enjoy backpacking, fixing things, and working on computers. This summer I hiked up to Mt San Yacinto and the Rubicon Trail. I also went rafing on the American River.

I love to read! I currently have over 1,000 books in my classroom. I try to include books from all genres in order to reach students. The more of these books that I read myself, the better I can guide students when looking for that next "good book". Many of my students will become avid readers for the first time in the fifth grade.
