Dear Parents and Students,

        Welcome back to Dieken’s Den!  Here are this week’s highlights:  

Math: The students received their corrected Chap. 3 tests today. Please sign and make corrections when we return in January.

Language Arts: The students finished reading about tall tales.  We will continue with our unit on verbs when we return in January.  Some students need to practice to improve cursive handwriting during the break.

Social Studies: Some students were able to share their explorer poems yesterday.  They were all very impressive!  When we return in January, please have two copies of the poem for me: one for the bulletin board, and one for a class book.  If you got your time strip back, please bring that back in January as well.

Assemblies: We had our annual Chaparral holiday sing-along on Friday.

Friday Folders: Keep your Friday folders in a safe place until January!  Progress Reports will be sent home in mid-January.

Coming up...

Winter Break: We will be on break from Dec. 22-Jan. 2.  School resumes on Monday, Jan. 5th.

Spellathon: The Spellathon word list was sent home last week. We will review each set of 25 in January before taking the test in early February.  More info will be sent home in the new year.

Thank you to parents for various classroom donations of Kleenex, pencils, paper, and hard candy, as well as for your very generous gifts.

Many thanks to Mrs. Bifone, for taking such good care of our kids while I recuperate. Until next year, have a wonderful 2 weeks off!  Happy Holidays!
