It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Chaparral Elementary School.  From the moment you step onto our campus, you will know that it is a special place for students.  We have approximately 650 children, 32 of the finest teachers and 25 incredible support personnel.  You will find that our staff is eager and capable of providing your child with excellent programs of instruction and a warm, caring environment in which to grow.  Together with our parents/partners in education, we have high expectations for our students in academics and citizenship.  Students learn through an integrated curriculum in which language arts, mathematics, history/social studies, science, physical education, art and music develop together through thematic units that support the California State Standards and the CUSD Goals.    

Chaparral Elementary has an up-to-date computer lab and new ceiling mounted projectors in each classroom.  We’re working towards integrating technology into our instructional program on a daily basis.  Our library recently underwent a total modernization process (thanks to our generous PFA!) and we’re continually adding new book titles each month.  Each student visits both the Computer Lab and Library on a weekly basis.  We also are fortunate to have the expertise of four outstanding Physical Education Paraprofessionals, a vocal specialist and the Art Masters program.  We recognize that a successful school experience is compounded by the shared responsibility between home and school.  Parents are their child’s first teacher and what parents do with their children at home has a powerful influence on their performance at school.  Our goal is to work closely with our students and parents to ensure the best possible education to meet the needs of our diverse and talented students.  We look forward to your active participation in school and school related activities.  There are many opportunities during the school year for you to enjoy school programs, to involve yourself in the classrooms, and to work in partnership with your child’s teacher and the Chaparral Family.
