Huntington Gardens Field Trip

A trip to the Huntington Gardens in San Marino will take us to the Herb Garden and we will take part in a program called "Discovering Plants". Here the students will engage in multi-sensory lessons with plants, developing an awareness of the way plants are intertwined with our daily lives. We will wear cotton t-shirts, wash with lavender soap, use toothpaste with stevia in it, and cook lamb with rosemary. We will also discuss the children's book Weslandia, by Paul Fleischman, which tells of a boy who creates a whole civilization from one plant. The plants and their uses, as well as a list of the vocabulary words we learned during our field trip, are listed below.
