Social Studies

Art Language Arts Math Motor Skills
Music Science Social Studies Technology

We are currently using the Harcourt School Publishers California serires entitled Reflections-People we Know which covers the six areas of study listed below. In second grade, the students will learn about how families have changed over time. They will meet special people who we remember for the important work they have done. Finally, the students will visit places near and far to see where people live and how they use the land around them. This being our most recent adoption, there is a wide range of cross-curricular learning at the Harcourt web site: www.harcourtschool.com/hss.

In addition to the units listed below, the students will learn about chronological sequence, how the present is connected to the past, map and globe skills, primary and secondary sources, and distinguishing fact from fiction by comparing documentary sources on historical figures and events.
