Born in Bonn in 1770, Ludwig Van Beethoven was only eleven years old when he was named
harpsichordist and violinist for the court orchestra. The prediction by one of his teachers
that Beethoven would become the"second Mozart" turned out to have little relevance, for he
became the one and only Beethoven. While enjoying many of his compositions, we will focus on
Symphonies No. 5 and 9.
