Title Nine By: Megan Hello everyone, I'm Megan Renken, and I'm here today to inform all of you women athletes about Title Nine. Just so you know, I am also an athlete, who just recently heard of Title Nine and there is a lot you should know about this law before going to college. Title Nine is the first law ever to make sure males and females receive equal rights in both school and work. Title Nine stated," No person in the United States shall, on the basis of gender, be excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving federal existence." Therefore, in sports, women are required to receive the same scholarship money. It is also demanded that men and women get the same quality coaching, faculties, locker rooms, equipment, training, and much more. So, no complaining about not receiving, fair treatment, because we do. I also think since men athletics raise all the money, and are more popular, we need to respect that. I think we, as women, need to be gracious and always keep that in mind. So, after today, I think all you female athletes need to know we do get that same rights as boys and that we are treated fairly.
