Prokop’s Press May 9, 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
It is amazing that next week we will be leaving for camp. The students are very excited, and I know they will have a great time! Obviously, it is a short school week, but here is what is up.
Math: Students worked on their game boards, planning and organizing the rough drafts. Next week, math will continue working on geometry concepts. Work periods on the game boards will be announced, they will not be on a daily basis.
Social Studies: Tuesday, May 13th is the correct day for the scheduled Egypt test. Sorry about the misunderstanding on the date.
Science: We continue our preparation for camp. Murals are underway. Students will continue working on them after camp, adding any new gained knowledge to what they have already researched.
Science School: Thursday, students brought home a reminder list of items they need for camp. Please look at it carefully to help your child pack. There is also a reminder of how to prepare your child's medications (if needed) to be given to us for distribution.
Language Arts: We began reading our last novel, The Great Gilly Hopkins. We will be doing many activities across the curriculum with this great book. I think the students are already hooked on the main characters of this book. For many, it is a step into the world of foster children and their foster families, one most know nothing about. They are learning about both the positive side of foster care and, sometimes the disappointing side of moving from family to family.
State Testing: students were troopers and seemed to take the testing very seriously and tried their best.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Prokop
