Prokop’s Press February 22, 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
Wow! Where did the month go? I cannot believe that we are soon going to be celebrating all of our hard work at Open House in April. This week flew by, with much discussion about the upcoming social studies report. Here is what else went on, along with what is to come.
Math: We now move on to integers, chapter 6. Make sure you are keeping up on signing the Friday binder sheet, which keeps you appraised of your child's mathematical progress.
Language Arts: Most of this week was spent going over the report requirements, and going over how things will be graded. I also showed students some samples of past 3D projects, to get them thinking of what they would like to make, as it is another requirement for the social studies report. Today we had the first lesson on notetaking for a report with notecards. I also went over the "source" cards that are required for the report and needed for the formal bibliography that is required. Many students are anxious to get started, so they now know what to do to do so. Monday will be our first in class workperiod, so students need to come to school with their topic known, along with a source to work from. I have many, many books students can check out on a daily basis to help them with their research. We also went to the library this week, and students had an opportunity to check a source book out.
Spellathon: A reminder that envelopes with pledge money is due Friday, February 29th. Thank you!!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Prokop
