Dear Parents and Students,

Standardized Testing is finished!  I appreciate everyone’s effort in getting to school on time and putting forth their best effort on each test.  The students were also very respectful to others while they completed their tests, and they enjoyed the snacks that the PFA provided for them.

We had a great turn-out for our Gold Rush Days meeting yesterday!  I know that many parents were unable to come to the meeting, but would still like to help.  Here is a list of the parents who are in charge of each station.  Please contact them directly to offer your assistance.

Gold Panning                                    Mrs. Leea McDermott (Room 10)

Assay Office                                      Mrs. Tammi Digrazia (Room 11)

Tin Punch                                         Mrs. Sharon Williams (11) and Mr. John Bifone (12)

Scarf Making                                     Mrs. Dawn Hengesbach (Room 12)

Wood Games                                    Mrs. Dorothy Eminhizer (Room 10)

Frog Jumping                                    Mrs. Fitri Chow (11) and Mrs. Della Sun (10)

Camp Games/Music                          Mrs. Jeanne Sterba (Room 10)

Lemonade/Butter                               Mrs. Penny Richmond (10) and Mrs. Shannon Wride (11)

Picture Frame Decorating                   Mrs. Mary Jane Shapiro (12) and Mrs. Rina Cooper (11)

Chuckwagon Lunch Mrs. Jenn Dahl (11), Mrs. Chris Moffatt (10), Mrs. Kate Martinez (11), and Mrs. Carolyn Bifone (12)

Parents, keep in mind when purchasing supplies for stations that we have 92 fourth graders this year.  Also, we would like to ask for a $2.00 donation per student for the Chuckwagon lunch.  Send the $2.oo to school with your child any time. Thank you.

Gold Rush Report grades are in today’s Friday Folders.  The students did an outstanding job on these reports.  Many students got to visit the place they reported on, and several students read their reports to the class yesterday.  Taking notes on the note cards and then writing the report from them is good experience for future report-writing.

I am proud of all the students who are taking the Governor’s Challenge of participating in additional physical activity for at least 30 minutes three times a week outside of the regular school day.  Weekly activity logs should be turned in every Thursday.

Sign-ups for the upper grade track meet are going on now.  Most students have signed up for two or three events.  There will be individual and team events at the track meet, which will take place on Friday, May 23rd.

We will spend a lot of time during the next two weeks practicing for our gold rush play, “Eureka!”  Mrs. Powell will be returning to Chaparral frequently to help with the rehearsals.  If your child has a character part in the play, he/she should be practicing their monologue at home.  The teachers also need a copy of their monologues to help cue them at the play if they forget a line.

Sincerely,
