Hi! My name is Karen Corrette, welcome to my first grade class website. I am in my 25th year of teaching! I have taught first grade 18 years out of the 25. I have also taught kinder through fourth. I love teaching first grade; it’s the best! I received my teaching credentials from UC Irvine and my Masters degree from Azusa Pacific. I also teach part time at University of La Verne, instructing new teachers.

All three of my children attended Chaparral also. My oldest daughter Kristen graduated last year the University of Colorado, Boulder. My son Nicholas is a junior at San Diego Statel and my youngest daughter Allison will be a junior at Claremont High.   After seeing how much I love my job, my husband Bill went into teaching as a second career and is currently a VP at Vina Danks Middle School in Ontario.

The most important part about teaching is seeing the potential in each child, especially first graders! The growth made in this one short year is astounding. Each child has unique gifts and talents that need to be uncovered and nurtured. That’s the best part about my job, seeing the excitement in a child’s face when they have unlocked those individual treasures that make them who they are.
