Mrs. Maciariello, (“Mrs. M.”) has been teaching at Chaparral since her own children were students there, 1986. Before occupying room 4, she was active in the PFA, working on the Book Fairs, helping in the classroom and doing Picture Person presentations. She always wanted to teach at Chaparral and has thoroughly enjoyed her many years here. Mrs. M. was educated in New York at SUC Potsdam. She taught in a little town in the Adirondacks near where she grew up for one year and in a suburb of Schenectady, New York for five years. She moved with her family to Claremont in 1979. They had a five year plan, but fell in love with the area and are still here!
She has two grown sons, one who lives in L.A., works in advertising and is a musician. Her older son has made the move west and works in Laguna Beach for Compass Equity. He was married last April to a wonderful girl from Missouri! Her husband is a professor at The Drucker School atCGU, which was the reason for their move. They have a cabin in the Adirondacks and have gone back every summer since 1980. It is a special time for them to be near family and friends. They do a lot of hiking and biking and always enjoy their time in the mountains.
Mrs. Maciariello thinks that teaching first grade is the best job in the whole world. She loves to watch the growth in her first graders and is always amazed at how independent they are by June. Her fellow teachers, the students and parents at Chaparral are wonderful and it’s a joy for her to come to work each day. |
