About the Class |
|

The first thing parents and children usually want to know is
what are the rules. There are only three, but they are carefully
followed:
- Everyone deserves respect.
- Come to class prepared.
- Have a winning attitude.
We spend time at the first of the year discussing many aspects
of respect and why it is important to their lives now and in the
future. There is a monetary system that rewards students who are
caught being good.
Homework is given nightly Monday through Thursday. It should
take your child between 45-60 minutes to complete. A story is
read each Monday and a group of workpages we call the lit pack
is given out. This is due the following Friday. Hopefully this
will help your child develop time management as well as academic
skills. If homework is regularly taking your child over an hour
(with the TV off), please let me know, and we can work out an
adjustment. If you have a night when homework can not fit into
the family schedule, please send a note with the student and
have him or her complete it as soon as possible.
Reports are done in the classroom so that I can be sure each
student can use the internet, encyclopedia, reference books,
dictionary, and thesaurus.
If your child is unable to participate in PE, please send a note
stating how long you want them to be excused. This helps the
teachers to stay on the same page with the parents.
