Dear Families,
I just want to thank you for attending our Open House last night! The students did a fantastic job and they have been working so hard! I am so proud of every single student!
I also want to thank all of the wonderful familes that donated items and/or helped out at our Living History Day! The second grade team could not have done it without your help. I also want to thank Mrs. Tannenbaum for providing the wonderful banjo music. We had a lot of fun singing pioneer songs! Thank you!
I also have to extend a huge THANK YOU to all of the families that gave us books for our classroom library from the Mrs. Nelson's Book Fair. These books will be enjoyed for years to come! Thank you so much!
As you are aware, next week is Spring Break. I hope everyone has an opportunity to relax and have some fun!
In math, we are working on Chapter 8-Measurement. I haven't had a chance to grade Chapter 7 tests yet, but I will over Spring Break. The kids really enjoy learning about measurement.
In reading, we will be starting a new unit and a new story. Our next story is called "Jalapeno Bagels." It is a delightful story about blended cultures. As usual, we will spend about 2 weeks on this story.
In science, we will continue to work on Rocks and Minerals. In addition, we will also be learning about dinosaurs and fossils. This is always a lot of fun for us.
In Social Studies, we are finished with Apple Valley. I truly enjoyed this unit! It was so much fun! I am so impressed with how enthusiastic the students were and how much they enjoyed pretending to live in 1865. Our next unit we will be learning about our government. Not as exciting as Apple Valley, but we will still learn a lot.
I will be out of the classroom on April 24. I have to attend a district science meeting.
Our next field trip will be on April 17th to see the BFG. Thank you to Mrs. Morwood for volunteering to chaperone the trip. I need one more parent, so if you are interested, let me know as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful month!
Mrs. Harrison
