Book Reports
You will be responsible for reading at least two books a month at your reading level. After you complete a book, you will take an Accelerated Reader quiz, print the results, and turn it in to me. If you score 80% or better, you are done! If you score less than 80%, you will be required to turn in a one-page summary of your book with the following requirements. State Report
Fifth grade social studies is all about America. We will be learning more about our country state by state. Each student will select a different state to research and report on. Because this is a large project, class time will be given to work on different parts of the assignment. We will be using the internet and the library to gather information. Each student will also design a model representing important features of their state. Projects will be presented to the class. |

Science Fair
Upper grade students are required to participate in the science fair. Each student will select a topic that they can conduct an experiment on. The purpose is to use the scientific method. Details will be sent out in January but it is never too early to look for a topic for your experiment. |

Poetry Book
We will be writing poetry books in the spring. We will explore several different styles of poetry writing and then build poetry books. This is a fun project and the final result is worth hanging on to. |
