Astrocamp

Astrocamp is a three day science adventure that takes place in the spring. This year’s dates are April 23, 24, and 25. Students have the opportunity to experience exciting hands-on science demonstrations and experiments. Some of the activities include building a soda rocket that soars up to 300 feet, freezing items in liquid nitrogen, exploding a hydrogen balloon, generating sparks and raising hair with a giant Van de Graff machine, and many more. Students stay in comfortable dorms and enjoy all-you-can-eat meals. For more information, check out Astrocamp’s web site.

Colonial Chesterfield at Riley’s Farm

We will be visiting Colonial Chesterfield on March 25th. Life and times of the English colonies prior to the revolutionary war are presented to the students. Students get a chance to see how the colonists lived and what kind of events made the colonists declare independence. Students take part in a mock trial, learn to bake, brush up on colonial manners, and drill for battle. This is a great chance to learn early American history. Riley's Farm charges us $14 per person. The PFA pays $12 per student. Donations are welcome to cover the rest.
