I. Brainstorming/Scavenger Hunt
- As a class, we wil explore the World Wide Web for events, people, and places related to the Colonial Period and the Revolutionary War. These terms will be placed on an A-Z poster.
- Choose one or two events/people/places to do research. You will need to consult at least three sources.
- Find pictures and websites that you might use for your report. Save on the desktop in a folder marked "Dieken" and your number.
II. Research
- Find information about your event/person/place/thing.
- Use the Internet, your textbook, encyclopedia, or links on this website.
- Keep track of your resources -- you will need to turn in a bibliography, as well as your notes.
- Find the 5 Ws:
a. "Who" is the person, or "who" was involved with your event, place, or
thing?
b. "What" is the background or circumstance behind your
person/place/thing/or event?
c. "When" did your event take place? What was the timeline for your
person/place/thing/event?
d. "Where" -- what colony/country -- did the event/person/place/thing
take place?
e. "Why" did the event take place? "Why" did the person get involved?
f. "How" did this affect the Revolutionary War?
5. Don't forget to take notes and keep track of your sources!
III. PowerPoint
1. In the computer lab, you will work on designing your own slide(s): layout,
design, color, transitions, and content.
2. You may include sound and pictures to your slide.
3. Save your file on the desktop as "(letter) for (topic)" (example: "A for
Abigail Adams")
4. information should be short phrases, rather than complete sentences
