CHAPARRAL STUDENTS COLLECT NEARLY 8,000 CANS FOR THE SALVATION ARMY
Chaparral students have once again proven that they are a very generous and giving group of kids. All classrooms chipped in and collected over 7,800 cans of food and non-perishable items to donate to our local Salvation Army to help needy families in our community. The Student Council spearheaded the food drive with the support of the co-facilitators, Mrs. Fulton and Mrs. Dieken. Each classroom kept a running total and all the cans in their classrooms. On Friday, Nov. 18, all of the Student Council members went to the classrooms with wagons and carts to bring the food to the music room where it was organized into cases, boxes and bags. It was a rough job and the kids were exhausted… but they were also exhilarated over what was accomplished when an entire school works together to achieve a common goal.
